‘Build Back Better’ is Democrats’ down payment on socialism

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

You may not realize it, but Congress is in the midst of a substantial debate about the future of our country. We are debating your future. The future of your family. The result could affect generations of Americans to come.

You’ve probably heard arguments about the magnitude of the Democrats’ latest partisan spending bill and the justified concerns about dumping trillions of dollars (in addition to the trillions that have already been spent this year) into it. ‘economy. Economists, including former Obama administration officials, have warned of the effect this would have on the already painful inflation that everyday families feel in every corner of our country.

My Republican colleagues and I think the bill is reckless tax and spending folly, and it is. But, aside from the sky-high price tag and the immediate consequences of inflation-induced pain in your wallet, there’s more to what Democrats are trying to squeeze into Congress this holiday season.

The debate is now a fundamental struggle over the future of our country, and an almost equally divided Congress is about to decide how far the long arm of the federal government will extend in your daily life.

Beyond hyperbole, Democrats want to increase the reach of the federal government in almost every stage of a person’s life, from cradle to grave. And if they manage to get past their tax craziness and reckless spending, there will be no turning back.

The Democrats’ vision for America involves monthly allowances from the government, even for illegal immigrants. This involves having Uncle Sam take over custody of your children, which will result in fewer options to choose from and higher costs for families. Faith-based daycares, which 53% of working families use, are said to be discriminated against for government funding and seriously disadvantaged. Taxpayers would be forced to pay union dues, and consumers would be discriminated against if they bought non-union assembled electric vehicles.

Democrats want to increase the reach of the federal government in almost every stage of a person’s life, from cradle to grave. And if they manage to get past their tax craziness and reckless spending, there will be no turning back.

More and more Americans would depend on an expanded welfare state, receiving handouts without job requirements. Compensation programs that already face insolvency would be further expanded, compromising the safety net upon which millions of Americans depend and the long-term financial stability of our country.

If Democrats do what they want, workers can expect slower wage growth as job creators are forced to pay more taxes. Families can expect higher taxes, higher prices, and a more intrusive IRS that would weigh heavily on law-abiding Americans as Democrats scramble to try and pay for this frenzy of unnecessary spending. Imagine that – supposedly paying for partisan tax and spending madness by making the IRS bigger and more powerful than it already is.

And then there are the Green New Deal style policies. Democrats would like the government to choose the energy sources for your home and your car. If you think gas is expensive now, and it is, wait until Democrats ‘policies increase the cost of electricity, natural gas, and gasoline further – while also subsidizing Democrats’ favorite green technologies. .

I will continue to support renewables and increased energy innovation and efficiency, but America will continue to depend on liquid fuels for the foreseeable future. It is just a fact that consumers and the economy should not be punished by the policies of the Democrats.

And at a time when businesses struggle to find workers, Democrats want to offer government jobs, tuition and loans, and other perks for climate activists. Billions of taxpayer dollars would be spent on “tree fairness”, “urban agriculture”, “environmental justice programs” for schools and other progressive pet projects that amount to slush funds for cities.

This view of our country flies in the face of everything Republicans – and I believe a majority of Americans – stand for, which is why not a single Republican will support the Democrats’ downgrade on socialism.

We believe in letting people keep more of their hard-earned money and limiting the power and control of government. We want a future where an individual’s outcome is determined by their work ethic, not by “we know best” bureaucrats and Democrats in Washington, DC.

At the most basic level, Republicans want to create an environment that encourages economic opportunity for all – as a party, we believe there is dignity and value in working for families, communities and l ‘economy.

Fortunately, this radical view of America can be stopped dead in its tracks today. All it would take is a brave Senate Democrat who would stand up and save the country from the enormous cost of this partisan spending bill on the economy, our future and American freedom.

Any Democrat could choose from a long list of reasons to oppose it, and he would do the country a great service.
