Historic day, Madhya Pradesh leads the country in agricultural insurance payment: CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan | Bhopal News

BHOPAL: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Saturday that his government had deposited Rs 1.76 lakh crore in farmers’ accounts in 22 months. “It’s a miracle,” he said during a crop damage claim distribution program in Betul.
With one click, the CM transferred Rs 7,618 crore into farmers’ accounts in settlement of 49 lakh claims from the 2020 kharif and 2020-21 rabi seasons. It is the largest amount distributed nationwide, Chouhan said, calling it a “historic day for Madhya Pradesh”.
Previously, Rs 2,876 crores had been distributed to farmers in case of crop failure. So far, aid of Rs 10,494 crore has been released by the MP government to farmers, the CM said.
“Previous governments failed to even investigate the crop failures, while the state government has now provided over Rs 306.78 crore to over 1.28 million farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Bima Yojana in Betul district alone, the CM said, adding that the state government provided Rs 29,834 crore to banks for providing 0% interest loans to farmers. On electrical connections, a subsidy of Rs 51,000 per motor is provided by the state government.
Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing Kisan Samman Nidhi, Chouhan said the Prime Minister provided Rs 10,333 crore to Madhya Pradesh alone under this scheme. “Inspired by Prime Minister Modi, the state government has also provided Rs 4,000 to farmers in the form of Kisan Samman Nidhi. Rs 10,000 is definitely a boon for smallholder farmers,” he said.
Chouhan said Rs 4,779 crore has been deposited in farmers’ accounts so far, including Rs 2,876 crore for kharif crop losses last year. About Rs 800 crore has been given to cooperative banks to improve the situation, he said.
For the kharif, over 2.88 lakh of farmers received Rs. 193 crore as crop insurance for horticultural crops, and Rs. 72 crore was deposited by farmers under the Solar Pump Grant Scheme. Under the Agricultural Infrastructure Fund, a loan of Rs 1,583 crore was granted by the banks. In buying wheat, paddy, jowar, gram, mustard, lentil, moong, urad and other crops, Rs 75,000 crore was deposited in farmers’ accounts in 22 months . In this way, more than Rs 1.64 lakh crore has been deposited in farmers’ accounts in the past 22 months, Chouhan said. “After adding the amount released today, Rs 1.76 lakh crore has been released in farmers accounts. Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar participated virtually from New Delhi Chouhan has inaugurated projects worth Rs 381 crore for Betul and performed bhoomi-pujan.
