Some cool features like the refund feature and the group icon editor are coming to WhatsApp in the coming weeks. Learn more about them here.

WABetaInfo, a popular WhatsApp reporter, recently noticed that the app will have a new set of features.

The source managed to take a screenshot of the feature that could benefit those with in-app payments. In the screenshot, the refund function can give users cash benefit when paying for products.

According to information provided by WABetaInfo, a person could probably receive up to $ 0.14 (Rs 10).

In the meantime, the final cashback benefit could still change before the feature’s official launch.

According to an article by NDTV written on Sunday September 26th, said cashback will only be available in India, especially for UPI payments.

WhatsApp has yet to announce the mechanisms for acquiring cashback benefits and the individual users who will use them.

In this regard, WABetaInfo stated that after 48 hours when the payment has been made, the user will finally get the refund.

It will be accessible in beta version 2.21.20.3 of WhatsApp Android.

WhatsApp group icon design, “Last visited” and selective message reporting

Besides the exclusive refund function, WhatsApp would also provide a group icon editing tool. With this feature, group members can now change their group’s icon.

Improvements such as changing background and color can come with this feature. At the time, we still don’t know if WhatsApp will add emojis and stickers in this icon editor.

For the privacy feature, Whatsapp is preparing to release a “last seen” update. This feature will allow the user to share their “last seen” status with one or more specific people.

Additionally, this next update will be available for Android and iOS users. In addition, WhatsApp will also introduce selective message reports for those who wish to report individual chats on the platform.

WABetaInfo said that this feature will be available in iOS beta 2.21.190.11 and 2.21.190.12, according to News18.

WhatSApp transparency issues

Following several privacy concerns surrounding WhatsApp earlier this month, the Facebook-owned app was fined $ 267 million for its lack of transparency in sharing data with its main business.

The Irish Data Protection Commissioner found out that the app works with Facebook in this way. This action also serves to indicate that the transparency of WhatsApp should apply to users and non-users of its services.

The application will have three months to revise its transparency rules.

In another report following the incident, ProPublica confirmed that the moderators behind WhatsApp can read users’ messages. On the other hand, it wasn’t synonymous with what Facebook was mentioning before.

Amid the data privacy concerns, the messaging app implemented a feature that could hide people’s conversations. However, the parent company still allows ad tracking across its entire service.
